This view is looking south on Hwy. 277, about two miles south of the Edwards County line. Along this stretch of road the rock cuts are on the east (left) side, and there is mostly dropoff on the west side. This is the only stretch of 277 north of Del Rio that is still narrow two-lane with no shoulders. Once it gets to Buffalo Creek, it widens out.

In this area it is not good for road cruising, but is good for walking, if you can find a place to park off the road. This area is good for copperheads, Trans Pecos ratsnakes, Baird's ratsnakes, bullsnakes and alterna, although not in the quantaties found farther south.
